Hello Friends and Supporters!
I want to thank everyone for all of your support and enthusiasm over the last year and a half of this campaign. I could not be more proud of our team and of our wonderful volunteers for running a positive, true grassroots campaign that was always focused on solutions and the "how" of getting to the promise of the American Dream.
I am grateful for all of the wonderful new friends I have made and for the long-time friends who stood by me. It's almost like the Girl Scout song (yes, I was a girl scout), "Make new friends but keep the old, one is silver and the other is gold." The only difference is that, in my book, you all are gold.
Against long odds, you never wavered in your belief in and dedication to true democracy, to giving the choice to the one place where it belongs...with the people. Together we crossed the Commonwealth, we proudly supported Jobs and Single Payer, and we submitted 14,645 certified signatures from voters across the state.
I am grateful to all of you for your dedication to our attempts to change the calculus of money and politics and our efforts to talk about solutions and substance and make politics about more than just talking points. You are all the real heroes and the real people who make a difference. You should be extremely proud of yourselves--we are.
I also want to say a special thanks to my husband Kai, who was with me every step of the way. He is the best partner anyone could ever have.
Though this campaign has come to a close, the fight for justice never ends. As I said in my speech (link to video below), we are the heartbeat of democracy and it will stay alive as long as we fight for fairness and justice.
All of our very best to all of you. Please keep in touch.
Forza. Coraggio.
Onward-
Marisa
